Dog Passes After ‘Common’ Mistake And Dog Owner Posts Warning To Save Others

As we all know, we enjoy watching videos of dogs, cats and all animals that bring us joy. However, there are times when we need to get that word out for safety and bring awareness to help avoid future tragedies to our 4-legged friends.

This is the story about Petey. Please meet Christina Young who lost her best friend Petey and wanted to get the word out to other pet parents.

Christina said, ‘good bye’ to Petey, after a tragic accident took his life. She wanted other pet parents to know that this was preventable, and for most of us, “this accident” has already happened in our own homes.

She came home one day with the expectation of seeing a tail wagging Petey to a quiet house. Along with this quiet house, her somber boyfriend Christian had devastating news about their boy, Petey. Young posted this on her Facebook page:

 

“As [Christian] walked in further he saw our sweet boy laying lifeless with a stupid chip bag over his head. He was able to get them off the counter that we will forever blame ourselves for leaving out. He ate every chip out but of course went back for crumbs…which made the bag tighter and tighter with there being nothing left inside every time he would go for more he would inhale making the bag tighter & tighter around his head.. ultimately resulting in suffocation.”

 

Christina simply couldn’t understand how this could happen. Why didn’t Petey pull the bag off of his head with his paws?

He was very bright, smart and agile. So, she did research of her own and found information that nobody ever talks about online. Young wanted to ‘spread the word’ so pet owners know the dangers of leaving potato chip, popcorn, cereal, bread and even dog treat bags lying around. They can pose a serious threat to our beloved animals.

“3-5 pet suffocation’s get reported every week and 42% of those occur while the owner is in the next room. It only takes about 3 minutes for their oxygen to drop to fatal levels. With this happening so often we were so surprised by the lack of awareness on this topic out there.”

 

Pet parents have no idea about these daily food related hazards, and before it’s too late, awareness wants to be spread for others. Jennifer Young and Christian want to raise such awareness. The two want such things to happen so another pet doesn’t suffer the same fate as their pet did.

Owner Sealed Dog’s Eyes And Mouth Shut With Superglue, Dumped Her On A Busy Road

Meet Glory, who is a Terrier mix dog. The poor pup was found dumped in the most disgusting condition by the roadside. The person who came across her thought she had passed away, but soon realized that her eyes and mouth were sealed shut with super glue.

Glory was rushed to the local  hospital where they discovered bruises on her stomach after being hit from someone. She was taken to the Emergency Room where the doctors spent countless hours to help remove the glue and tend to her other wounds caused by it.

Glory was only able to show personality after weeks of recovery. She was later shifted to a loving foster family, where she was looked after by her foster father. Later, the Waggy family came forward to adopt her. They’re looking forward to giving her a happy life forever!

Soldier Waits At The Airport And His ‘Special’ Friend Comes Off The Plane

We didn’t get here without great sacrifice and loss. And we honor our heroes every day with days filled with happiness and choices. We need to make their sacrifices worthwhile by recognizing the important duties of all those who fight for our freedoms. If you want to know how much we appreciate vets, one look at their partners in life, or “war dogs,” is enough evidence. “War Dogs” have been fighting alongside our soldiers for centuries and serve as essential members of regiments.

Army sergeant Tom Hansen served alongside Taylor, affectionately known as Tay-Tay. But like many other canine partners, she had to be left behind and spend time in a military kennel until official retirement.

One United Airlines flight attendant, Molli Oliver, tries make make reunions possible between retired furry friends and the handlers who loved them. Sometimes she has to spend her own money to fly with the dog. She tries make make reunions possible and it’s all out of love.

“I love the dogs, and I love my military that’s taken care of my freedom my whole life, so it’s a win-win to combine the two,” Oliver said.

As Hansen waits at the airport, excited but a bit nervous, his special someone is making her way to him. Their goal is to spend the rest of Tay-Tay’s days living happily together. Their reunion is incredibly touching! Don’t take your eyes off the screen or you may just miss the firework moment!

Truck Thief Heartlessly Dumps Paralyzed Dog In The Middle Of The Street

Mistakes are nothing to be ashamed of, but they can sometimes lead to horrible situations. George Ketry from Louisiana regrets his choice to leave his dog in his running car for a few minutes. He had to run a quick errand, so he thought his disabled senior dog would be safe in the warm vehicle. But within a few moments, the truck was stolen with the dog inside.

Ketry ran into several complications while trying to locate the truck, but he never gave up trying. Eventually, his dedication led to him getting what seemed like a miracle.

Helpless Dog Disappears

Ketry stopped at a hardware store briefly, and he assumed his dog named Rainey would be fine in the running car. Rainey’s back legs are paralyzed, so he needs a wheelchair to get around. Yet, when Ketry exited the store, his vehicle and dog were nowhere to be seen.

“The idea of not having Rainey or not knowing where he is and never being able to see him again, not knowing, that was the really hard part for us,” Ketry said.

Right away, Ketry spread the word through social media. The Louisiana Humane Society also helped with the search. Ketry’s truck has OnStar tracking in it, which seemed like a good lead. But Onstar wouldn’t send the tracking information to authorities, and they haven’t explained why.

As hours went by, Ketry began to feel less hopeful. Rainey needed special care, and he likely wasn’t getting that while he was away. But then, Ketry got the glimmer of hope he’d been looking for.

Miracles Can Happen

First, someone located the truck, which was damaged. Many of Ketry’s valuable items were stolen from the vehicle, such as his phone and laptop. Sadly, Rainey was also no longer inside.

Luckily, a Good Samaritan spotted Rainey sitting in the middle of the road after a dog barking drew attention to him. The pup was found a few blocks from the vehicle. It seemed like the thief had quickly thrown the pup out of the truck and kept driving. Without his wheelchair, Rainey couldn’t move out of the street on his own.

The person who found him said the pup was very distraught. They contacted the Louisiana Humane Society, which helped reunite Rainey with Ketry. Ketry offered the $1,000 reward to the person who found Rainey, but they declined it, saying they wanted it to be used to help others instead.

“I called [Rainey,] and he just came running around the corner like he had six legs. I mean, he had to be scared and confused the whole time,” said Ketry.

Rainey is healthy and happy following the incident. Ketry is grateful for the dog’s health, and he’s amazed that Rainey isn’t afraid to get in the truck. Of course, he wants the person who stole Rainey to face consequences, so hopefully, the special needs pup will get justice soon!

Woman In Strict Quarantine Helplessly Watches As Her Anxious Dog Destroys Her Home

As a Covid outbreak hit the Chinese city of Xi’an in January 2022, a woman named Liu had to leave her home and enter a strict 14-day quarantine. Sadly, she was not allowed to bring her dog with her, so she left enough food and water out and set up a security camera.

At first, Liu’s confused dog sat by the door waiting for her return. By the second day, the dog was getting frustrated with his circumstances.

What Separation Anxiety Can Do To A Dog

When Liu watched the footage from the surveillance cam, she saw the result of her dog’s loneliness and frustration. The anxious pup wandered around the whole apartment, chewing on everything in sight.

“Every single day, it was tearing up the house. Every single day it was destroying a new item. Almost everything in the house is broken now,” Liu said.

All Liu could do was watch from afar as her dog ripped through her clothes, bags, and furniture. With a week still left in her quarantine, Liu started buying new furniture for the apartment online.

The most likely explanation for the dog’s destructive rampage is that he was experiencing separation anxiety. Dogs also need to expend their energy on daily walks with their human and require mental stimulation throughout the day. This pup lacked all of that.

After everything, Liu still had a positive attitude and didn’t blame her dog.

“At least my dog is still healthy. It hasn’t eaten anything that bad. In seven days, we can return home, and things will get better,” she said. “The house may be trashed, but we can clean it up, and it’ll be okay.”

Covid Procedures And Pets

Experts described this outbreak in Xi’an as the most serious to hit China since the original Wuhan outbreak. The latter happened in late 2019, so why are there still so many kinks in government responses?

The viral video on the Chinese social media platform “Weibo” prompted discussions on why dogs aren’t factored into quarantine plans. One user, Qcher, pointed out that simply having designated pet care workers would help the animals left behind.

Most people contributing to the discussion insist that the dog should not be blamed for tearing up the house. User Dream Autumn Pharmacist wrote:

If anything, this video should indicate that there need to be plans in place to keep our pets safe and healthy during emergency quarantines.

UPDATE: Dog Who Chewed Off Own Leg Moves To Loving Sanctuary

Last summer, animal lovers rescued a neglected Pit Bull who had been tied near a pile of wood with no food, water, or shelter. When the leash got tangled around the dog’s leg, she thought she had no choice but to chew her leg off.

Luckily, Saginaw County Animal Care and Control stepped up to help the three-legged pup, whose name is Bella. Now, Bella has an amazing future ahead of her. The shelter staff found her the perfect home, but it’s not what most people would expect. It’s the best place for Bella to grow and regain trust in humans.

Life-Changing Road Trip

Bella’s new home is at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah. It’s 1,800 miles away from the Michigan shelter, so the pup had quite the adventure ahead of her.

At the shelter, Bella’s leg had been treated, and she gained 15 pounds. Yet, the staff knew finding a home for her would be tricky since she had a lot of trauma and was protective of her food. They wanted to find her a home with someone who specialized in caring for traumatized dogs. So, they thought a sanctuary would be the best fit for her for the time being.

So, they decided that the Best Friends Animal Society’s sanctuary was the best place to take Bella. Animal Control officers Desi Sage and Abbe Balderstone accompanied Bella on the drive to Utah, which took four days. They shared adorable pictures of Bella along the way.

“Against all odds, Bella overcame being left for dead. I am honored to be able to be a part of her new life. I’m beyond thankful for Best Friends Animal Sanctuary ensuring that Bella will never endure such pain and agony again. I believe this next chapter in her life will help her move forward and hopefully eventually land her in a loving home with people that truly see how special she really is,” said Sage.

Sanctuary Fit for a Queen

After traveling across the country, Bella is now settling into her new home, where she has already made herself comfortable. She has a cozy room to relax in and plenty of toys to play with. Even though she seems very happy where she is, the sanctuary hopes she can one day get adopted.

“Ultimately, the best situation for Bella will be to get adopted by a family, but she’s going to love life here at the sanctuary until she gets her forever home,” said Julie Castle, the chief executive officer for Best Friends Animal Society. “We are grateful we could help and play a small part in Bella’s life journey. This is why we do what we do. These are the moments that make the tough times all worth it.”

The staff at the sanctuary will take notes on Bella’s daily behaviors, so they can create the ideal training plan for her. They want to make sure the one-year-old pup gets settled in before they start working on her long-term goals.

Bella has come such a long way since she was first rescued. She has adapted well to having three legs, and she doesn’t let her trauma slow her down. She’s a happy dog who has such a bright future thanks to the many humans who believed in her.
