D.C. Shelter Pets Need You During Sudden Evacuation

Recently, the Humane Rescue Alliance had a mite infestation at one of their locations. Because of this, they need to undergo critical maintenance right away. For this to be done, they need to evacuate 160 animals before this maintenance occurs. So, in order to speed up the adoption processes, the Humane Rescue Alliance has currently waived adoption fees at their New York Avenue location and their Northeast D.C. shelter.

As many animals as possible need to be adopted right away. All the animals have been spayed or neutered, and they have all been microchipped. There are a lot of great animals waiting for their forever homes, so the more word spreads, the better. If you are looking for a new family member, now is the perfect time to adopt!

“We are in critical need of adoptive homes,” said Claudia Roll, the vice president of operations at the Humane Rescue Alliance. “We have so many wonderful animals in our adoption centers who are waiting to meet their new families, and we want to send as many of them home as possible.”

The two locations can be found at 71 Oglethorpe St., NW and 1201 New York Ave., NE. Both locations have waived fees and are eager for their animals to be adopted right away.

However, if you are unable to adopt a new animal at such short notice, there are still other things you can do to help. After the mite infestation, the Humane Rescue Alliance is in desperate need of supplies. They are especially in need of bedding such as blankets, sheets, and comforters. These donations can either be dropped off at one of the locations or donated through their wishlist on Amazon.

If you or someone you know is interested in adopting an animal from either of these locations, please visit the Humane Rescue Alliance website to view all their available animals. The sooner they find homes, the better.

“If you are thinking about adopting, now is the time,” posted Humane Rescue Alliance. “We have so many wonderful animals, like Natalie, Dingo, Century, and Rainy who are ready and waiting to meet their new families, and we want to send as many of them home as possible.”

Anything you can do will help these shelters greatly. Even after the fees of these animals return, many of them will still need a loving home, so still consider adopting them regardless of the price. All these animals deserve a loving home whether they have an adoption fee or not.
