Singer Billie Eilish has always been a huge dog lover. The 18-year-old pop star has shared lots of videos of her cuddling with shelter dogs, but during the COVID-19 quarantine, she’s become even more dedicated to helping dogs. On her Instagram story, she encouraged fans to foster dogs during their time at home. In fact, she felt so passionately about saving dogs in need that she decided to foster two adorable Pit Bull puppies during the quarantine. However, she grew so attached to them that one of the pups became a permanent family member.
Eilish’s Foster Puppies
Eilish is currently spending her social distancing time at her parents’ house. She decided that this extra free time was the perfect opportunity to help some dogs in need. So, she fostered the two young Pit Bull puppies through Angel City Pit Bulls. One is a gray puppy while the other one is black with a white belly.
The puppies helped make quarantine a bit more exciting for Eilish and her family. In fact, even Pepper, the family’s dog, had fun playing with the little pups. On Eilish’s Instagram story, she strongly encouraged fans to foster dogs during this time too.
While many people are having a difficult time staying at home for so long, Eilish says that she’s actually enjoying it. Some alone time with a few adorable dogs is perfect for her.
“It sounds so introverted and loner-ish, but I’ve been really enjoying being alone,” said Eilish. “I love my friends, I can’t wait to see them. I do miss them a lot, but at the same time, I’m good. I’m good being alone. I haven’t had this much time off since I was 12.”
As much as she loved caring for the foster puppies, it ended in what is often called a “foster fail”. Eilish fell in love with the little pups, so she decided to adopt the gray puppy. She had been wanting a dog for a while now, and she felt that this pup was the best companion for her.
Adoption During the Pandemic
Eilish officially adopted the puppy during her quarantine time. Of course, she adored both of the pups, but the other one was adopted by a different family. On Instagram, Eilish shared a sweet photo of the black and white puppy with her new loving mom.
The two puppies were initially named Jem and Maude after the characters from To Kill a Mockingbird, but Eilish said they will be getting more suitable names. She has yet to announce the name of her new family member, but whatever name she chooses will likely be adorable!
Thanks to Eilish’s kindness, she helped two rescue puppies get forever homes. She continues to urge others to foster dogs too. It’s hard to part with foster dogs once they get adopted, but it’s such a great feeling to help them find a home. Plus, they make the best quarantine companions.
“If you’re looking for things to do while we’re all stuck at home, foster some babies,” Eilish said.
Eilish isn’t the only celebrity to foster dogs during the quarantine. Selena Gomez and Kaley Cuoco have also stepped forward to foster some dogs. If you’re able to, please consider fostering or donating to help shelters and rescues during this time. A lot of things might be closed or canceled, but there are always dogs looking for homes!
