Yes, even the most famous and talented among us are also confined to their homes during the COVID-19 outbreak. Fortunately, they’re still trying to get their music and positive vibes out there. On Sunday, The Academy of Country Music broadcasted “ACM Presents: Our Country” in place of the postponed ACM Awards. From their own homes, musicians put on individual concerts. Those concerts were broadcasted live for everyone else.
Among the performers were Blake Shelton and Carrie Underwood. But the standout performer of the night ended up being a non-human. Shania Twain’s Yellow Lab Melody (Melo for short) stole the show from her as the singer performed from her stable. That’s tough to do, considering a horse named Meemee also graced the makeshift stage.
The singer performed hits “Honey, I’m Home” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” alongside Meemee, who nuzzled her and her guitar throughout. Melo looked like she interpreted the performance as lullaby music. She slept on a blanket next to her on the floor, unaffected. I guess when you’re the dog of a country star, you just take for granted all the free concerts.
Some people described the 54-year-old country legend’s decision to perform alongside two animals as “weird.” I would call those people “haters.” Animals do have a tendency to ruin live performances, but in this case, they made perfect additions to the show.
Of course, Melo’s nonchalant attitude prompted a reference to Twain’s lyrics. And Twain herself admitted on Twitter that she “never impress[es] Melo” much!

Melo gets plenty of beautiful serenades from her mom. They recently recorded a thank you video for health workers on the front lines of COVID-19.
This adorable dog is clearly a big part of Twain’s life, and I am here for it.
It’s always such a treat to see celebrities who openly love their dogs. In addition to Shania Twain, you can often catch Chris Evans, Oprah Winfrey, and Jennifer Aniston posting pup pics online.
