Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick have an absolutely adorable relationship, the kind that is almost unheard of among celebrities of their magnitude. What’s even more adorable is their love for dogs! They’ve been married for over 30 years now. You know what they say: A family that loves dogs together… okay, maybe there isn’t a saying for that but you catch my drift!
They Have A Special Place In Their Heart And Home For Rescue Dogs
In 2012, the couple said a heartbreaking goodbye to their furbaby, Paulie. Paulie loved going on walks with his dad and protecting his yard from coyotes. Bacon and Sedgwick had plenty more love to give so they continued by giving their love to other rescue pups, Lily and Rocky. They have an especially big heart for Pit Bulls!
Lily was abandoned outside Yankee Stadium in New York at just a few months old. Luckily for this sweet pup, she ended up living in luxury with her famous mom and dad! She even learned how to synchronize dive with Kevin Bacon himself!
Sedgwick was an easy sell on welcoming Lily into her home. She told David Letterman that adopting Lily helped her deal with the empty nest syndrome she was feeling as her children got older.
“In order to help me through this abandonment issue that I clearly have, we have adopted a pitbull puppy… She was left outside Yankee Stadium – really, she was left for dead,” she told Letterman.
The Perfect Pup Is A Shelter Dog For Sedgwick
Sedgwick has been a dog lover since she was a child. Unlike many celebrities, Sedgwick says she could never see herself getting a dog from anywhere except a shelter.
She once told Good Housekeeping, “I could never see getting a pet from anywhere but a shelter — there are so many dogs and cats that need homes, and somehow they know you’ve rescued them. They never forget that you really did them a big favor — there’s just that unconditional love.”
Bacon and Sedgwick are so dedicated to giving dogs a better life that they loaded up their family and headed to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Their mission was to help save homeless pets and that’s exactly what they did!
Their love for dogs was passed down to their daughter, Sosie. Sosie has given them a granddog that they love with all of their might. She is a tiny six pounds but she clearly rules the roost when she stays with Grandma Kyra and Grandpa Kevin. The tiny pup reportedly sleeps on a pillow in their bed and doesn’t move a muscle the entire night! Just like any good grandfather, Bacon makes sure to show his grandpup all the love he has to give!
