Many innocent dogs are alone in Louisiana, begging for a place to call home. Amid the pandemic, shelters are becoming overcrowded, leaving them with a difficult decision. Dogs in kill shelters may have to be euthanized due to lack of space and funding. But with the help of caring dog lovers like you, we can transport these dogs to freedom.
On December 31st, 2020, iHeartDogs will save up to 100 homeless animals in Louisiana by sponsoring the New Beginning Rescue Flight. The flight will bring these dogs to an area of Michigan where no-kill shelters and rescues have open space. Chances of adoption at these locations are much, much higher. So, these lucky pups will find their forever homes in no time thanks to this flight. Nonprofit Wings of Rescue will transport the dogs to safety, thanks to the Second Chance Movement program from iHeartDogs!
iHeartDogs’ Second Chance Movement Collection helps fund flights like this one. When those products are sold, “miles” are donated to GreaterGood.org, our charity partner. These miles are then used to transport at-risk dogs to areas where they’re sure to have a happily ever after.
Let’s meet four of the lovable dogs that will enter the new year on this life-changing transport!
Tiny
Tiny is a small white dog from the Tangipahoa Parish in Louisiana. She was left behind during a chilly winter day. Sadly, someone had dumped her off on a dead end street, leaving her without a family for the holidays. Now, she’s ready to leave her past behind and be loved again.
Sparky
Sparky was left behind in the cold with nowhere to call home so he found a comfortable spot on a woman’s patio couch to rest his head. Yet, the woman wasn’t fond of the unexpected visitor, so she tried to chase him off. But every time he ran away, he would come right back. Luckily, this transport will finally give him a cozy place where he’s wanted.
Cocoa Mellon
Cocoa Mellon and her sister Coffee Bean arrived at Hefferson Parish after a tragic incident. Their mom died of COVID-19, and they had no other human family members to take them in. They only had each other, but they kept hoping they would be cherished again. Thanks to kind donations, they’re finally getting that opportunity.
Coffee Bean
Coffee Bean is Cocoa Mellon’s sister, and she was the only one there to comfort her when their human died. They worried they would be alone forever, but now, this transport will bring the two of them to safety together.
