Miranda Hart recently said goodbye to her beloved dog, Peggy and the world is in tears. If you aren’t familiar with Hart, let me catch you up to speed.
Miranda Hart is an English comedian and actress. She wrote a book in 2016 called Miranda and Me. It was written from the perspective of Peggy, a Shih-Tzu Bischon Frise mix. Then in 2018, the roles were reversed, and out came Peggy and Me. It again chronicled the hilarious and heartwarming antics that went on between her and her fuzzy best friend with deep, understanding eyes, scruffy face, and wagging tail.
Goodbyes Are Not Forever When You Have A Friend Over The Rainbow Bridge
Sadly, Peggy recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge leaving her mom completely heartbroken.
“Last week I said goodbye to my beautiful, darling dog Peggy,” Hart wrote on Instagram. “I share because I shared her with you when I wrote Peggy and Me and many of you took her to your hearts. I have always been amused by and grateful for the pictures and gifts she was showered with. She used a blanket a fan gave her in Australia until the end.”
The two were absolutely inseparable. One look at them at you could tell that they meant the world to one another. Peggy loved snuggles from her momma and the attention she received as she rose to doggy stardom.
“She was recognised more than once in public when friends walked her and once when I was walking her and the woman looked at me said “oh my goodness… is that Peggy, I can’t believe it”. And then looked at me again, when I thought I might be showered in a compliment, and she just said suspiciously “how come you get to walk her?” I proudly and with a lot of internal giggles said “I am Peggy’s owner” !”.
Her Tribute To Peggy Will Bring Every Dog Parent To Tears
Hart’s touching tribute went on to beautifully describe the feeling of saying goodbye to a four-legged family member.
“Fellow dog owners will know the excruciating sadness of losing your loyal, loving best friend. The pain mirrors the unique joy, connection, comfort and love they bring. And Peggy was my absolute rock and source of all those things,” said Hart. “Their uncompromising, unconditional loving presence is such an incredible gift. Enjoy your dogs as much as you can. They are great teachers.”
Hart has been so devastated by the emptiness left by Peggy’s death that she has decided to take a break from working. It’s completely understandable. After all, she has to adjust to her new normal which is particularly hard without the constant cuddles and kisses from your best friend.
Hart ended up post with this:
“Peggy – you were always by my side and always on my side. I will miss you everyday.”
