Gary Fisher, the late Carrie Fisher’s French Bulldog, would never miss her birthday. Even though Fisher passed in 2016, her furry friend remains Instagram famous and regularly posts memories of his favorite human. He was often seen with Fisher when she was alive, even during a silly interview in 2015.
For what would’ve been Fisher’s 65th birthday, Gary posted a heartwarming tribute to his mom. The sweet pup misses her every day, but luckily, he’s still surrounded by many other amazing humans who love him.
A Special Frenchie
At first, Gary belonged to Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd. Yet, Fisher quickly fell in love with the Frenchie, and Lourd realized her mom needed the pup more than she did. Gary eventually became Fisher’s service dog to help her with her bipolar disorder.
“I live for Gary,” Lourd said. “He was mine first and she actually stole him from me because she fell in love with him.”
Gary went everywhere with Fisher. He traveled to different countries, attended red carpet events, and even got to see special screenings of Star Wars films. Fisher said that Gary needed her just as much as she needed him.
Four days before Fisher’s death, she had a severe heart attack during an 11-hour flight. Gary stayed with her in the hospital until her final days, and he hated being apart from her. After Fisher passed, her assistant, Corby McCoin, adopted the pup. The two had formed a close bond during Gary’s time with Fisher.
Happy Heavenly Birthday
Even though many years have passed, Gary never forgot Fisher. He has his own Instagram page, where he still regularly posts pictures of her as memories. In a recent post for Fisher’s birthday, Gary shared a photo of him and Fisher sitting at a table together, enjoying each other’s company. As usual, Gary’s tongue is hanging out.
“Happy heavenly birthday to my mom. I miss these moments but cherish them as well,” Gary captioned with the photo.
Many humans also took the time to wish Fisher a happy heavenly birthday. Lourd shared a baby photo of her with her mom while Mark Hamill, Fisher’s Star Wars co-star, shared a silly image of him on set with Fisher.
No matter how much time passes, we never forget the loved ones we’ve lost. While Gary wishes Fisher could still be by his side, he’s fortunate to still be surrounded by her loving friends and family.
