In China, 46 adult Golden Retrievers, 22 Corgis, and many Golden Retriever puppies are waiting for a miracle to come along. The dogs came from a breeding farm that had planned to sell them to slaughterhouses and the Yulin Dog Meat Festival. Yet, animal lovers refused to let that happen.
Rescue groups are currently working hard to fly those heartbroken dogs to safety. Travel restrictions may complicate the process, but dog lovers won’t let that stop them. These dogs have suffered so much, so it’s time for them to feel what the comfort of a loving home is like!
Rescues Jump Into Action
When Shanghai Animal Rescue found the abused animals at the breeding farm, they reached out to China Rescue Dogs for assistance. The two organizations are working together to bring dozens of dogs away from potential slaughter. The dogs will come to North America so they can find forever homes.
“The living conditions at this dog breed farm are just awful,” Jill Stewart, the president and founder of China Rescue Dogs, said. “It is heartbreaking that this breeder was going to just discard their entire inventory of dogs to be slaughtered. We had to do something. Doing nothing was not an option.”

China Rescue Dogs is still in the process of bringing the dogs to North America. So far, They’ve rescued 29 of the Golden Retrievers, along with their puppies. They’re currently receiving long-overdue vet care.
However, there are still dozens of dogs that haven’t made the trip yet. The rescues are still working to move the rest of the Golden Retrievers and Corgis to a safer location.
Dozens of Dogs Get Second Chance
Once all the dogs are moved to a safer location where they’re no longer at risk of slaughter, they’ll start looking for forever homes. However, like similar missions, travel restrictions have made things more difficult.

In Shanghai, there are still COVID lockdown restrictions. Then, in the United States, there’s a year-long ban on importing dogs from over 100 countries, which was put in place in July 2021. So, the areas of North America that can adopt these dogs are limited for now. If the ban is lifted in July, then people in the United States may be able to give these dogs homes.
These organizations are determined to make sure all the dogs make it to safety. To see updates on the rescue, you can visit China Rescue Dogs’ Facebook page. You can also donate to help bring more dogs to safety.
